Free agents:

OG Evan Mathis (PHI)
DE Juqua Parker (CLE)
DT Trevor Laws (STL)
DT Derek Landri (PHI)
Candidates for release:
CB Asante Samuel: The Eagles have tried to move him in the offseason and up until the trade deadline. While he is a playmaker and the team's starting left cornerback, he will be 31 before free agency. He is also most effective in zone coverage, which does not suit the skill sets of either Nnamdi Asomugha or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, both of whom the Eagles acquired last offseason. This indicates that they could be switching towards a defensive scheme more heavily reliant on press man coverage.
Could save: $8.5 million
- TRADED
OT Winston Justice: A pedestrian right tackle who provides excellent depth for the Eagles, Justice has a role on this team, but is severely overpaid as he is due over $4 million in 2012. He will be asked to take a pay cut, because there is simply no way his play justifies his contract.
Could save: $2.3 million
- TRADED
C Jamaal Jackson: A steady presence at center for the Eagles, Jamaal Jackson was a mainstay on the Eagle offensive line. However, once new line coach Howard Mudd came to town, Jackson was relegated to the second team in favor of a much quicker Jason Kelce, who fits the new scheme better. Backup interior offensive linemen simply do not make what Jackson will be due next season.
Could save: $1.8 million
- RELEASED
DE Darryl Tapp: A solid rotational defensive end, Tapp can rush the passer well in a limited role, but is not very valuable to such a talented defensive line. He is one of the ten highest paid Eagles and may not be one of the team's five best defensive linemen. It's time to find a younger pass rusher to groom behind the dynamic duo of Trent Cole and Jason Babin.
Could save: $2.6 million
